If you’re a committed soy-milk consumer then bonsoy is a bit of a treat, it avoids the soapy sweetness of some soy milks and does have, as they claim, a more mellow flavour than most. It still tastes like soy milk but it’s the nicest tasting one i’ve tried yet. The real problem with soy milk comes when you try to cook with it because it tends to split and spoil whatever you make – bonsoy lives up to its claim here too and it keeps it together when heated and you can use it for lattes and cappuccinos, unlike most of the competitors. My only real problem with it is the cost, quite significantly more than other brands, and the fact that it’s shipped all the way from japan where it’s made – i’m assuming those two things are connected. If you only need a non-dairy milk for cooking i’d suggest trying oat milk which is now quite easy to find, cooks well and doesn’t have to pay its fare all the way from japan and run up all those food-miles. Bonsoy is certainly worth a try, there’s no denying its quality and flavour, but maybe it’s one for the most demanding soy milk connoisseurs only?.
Expensive but with no real benefit. I am a vegan, and have been drinking soyamilk for more than 15 years. My family (myself, my husband and my teen son, neither who are vegans) drink nothing but soya milk now. Teen son prefers the sweetened variety. Lovely hubbie likes non-sweetened, so do i. I have tried all the major brands. I like provamel the most but the price has kept me away because we drink so much. We now drink morrison’s own brand. So, i tried this soya milk willingly and have the following observations:i have diabetes so i need to keep my carbs low, and bonsoy has much higher carbs than morrison’s. This means every time i use it, i will have to ‘count’ the carbs into my daily intake.

Like full cream milk, almost. . I’ve been using soya milk for around fifteen years now and it’s replaced almost all my dairy intake (except lovely, lovely cheese). Normally i buy a supermarket own brand which does the job, but after trying bonsoy milk, i find it now tastes like dishwater. Bonsoy has a rich, creamy consistency, like full fat milk, but there is a faint after-taste with it, which my standard soya milk doesn’t have. The carton is a nightmare to get into and there’s no ‘plastic spout’ as on other brands, plus the carton itself is quite flimsy so handling it could result in spillages. The price is way above even the premium soya brands, which is going to be a turn off for many people. Finally, through not an issue for me, the carb content is rather high. If you’re on a counting or low(er) carb diet, you would have to watch how much you you use. So although the taste is good, it won’t be something i’d be buying again.
This is by far the best tasting dairy alternative i have found. It works well in hot drinks and keeps it together where other less confident alternatives curdle and make a mess out of your tea or coffee. They work just as well as a cooking replacement in cookies, cakes and soups. They are pricy and so that would be the only inconvenience to them. Most professional dairy alternatives can handle the heat, but i find this the more palatable of them all.
But my god does it taste good. I kept seeing this in top notch coffee shops and being a soy milk lover i was curious. Ok, it seems a bit pricey for soymilk, but my god does it taste good.Rich, creamy, smooth, made in japan (), no weird ingredients, froths well (the blurb isn’t kidding when it says it’s the choice of baristas). Of course it’s a bit higher in calories than your average soymilk, but i say it’s worth it. Decent nutritional stats imo. The packaging takes a little getting used to (no opening, you have to cut a corner of the carton), but on the plus side there’s no waste and you can savour every last drop. If money was no object, i’d buy this all the time.
