Usually most of the starters recommend 6 to 8 hours with 8 hours in the. I tried several starters and if you follow the instructions never can go wrong. Usually most of the starters recommend 6 to 8 hours with 8 hours in the fridge the bolgari instead advise to incubate for 4 to 6 hours so i tried 4 hours and the result was a creamy and thick yogurt i believe the time depends the kind of yogurt you want more or less sour i also i tried the scd yogurt which takes 24 hours incubation. It’s important to me the specific bacteria in bolgari or other bulgarian yogurt starter as i don’t want bifidus bacteria in my yogurt.

Use this culture all the time & it never disappoints. Here are the specifications for the Natural Probiotic Selection Yogurt Starter Culture ”BOLGARI” – Pack of 7 Freeze Dried Sachets:

  • Contains live active bacteria like “Lactobacilluss Bulgaricus” and “Streptococcus termophiluss”,
  • Every single sachet of this yogurt starter can be serial cultured
  • Use with all yogurt-making appliances
  • One sachet is enough to make between 1-3 litre of plain yogurt

After draining the lot it made the best cream cheese – yielding appr 1/2 kg (1 pound). I was a bit dissapointed to see the yoghurt made with this sachets a bit too liquid (1 sachet per 2l of milk)however, after draining the lot it made the best cream cheese – yielding appr 1/2 kg (1 pound). It was smooth and most delicious, better than stuff from the shop.

Only tried it once, worked well so will use it again.

Excellent culture giving a yoghurt with a smooth sour taste. Excellent culture giving a yoghurt with a smooth sour taste similar to lemons. I made labneh with it as well, and it turned out the best i’d ever made.Also works well with dried wholemilk powder (not instant milk). Great greek yoghurt when drained.

      1. Very good and like the original although i need to find a supplier of ewes milk locally to make the true mix. It does have a shelf life which is a week.
